The Making of “Sun Kissed – Daffodils” by Cheryl Eagers

Taken in the scenic Little Kaiteriteri region in New Zealand, this shot captures the essence of spring. The bright yellow daffodil is accented with soft yellows, violets and oranges blended in the background. Front-and-center is the flower, readying the rest of the region for the forthcoming spring and summer weather.

The daffodil is one of the most iconic flowers of the springtime. It represents the return to warmth and green – something we all can get behind. Shaped like a trumpet, daffodils seem to sound in the celebration of the spring. They’re a great symbol to usher in a newer, brighter future.

About the Experience

This picture means a lot to me. It was taken during my Honeymoon in 2013 when David and I visited some friends at Little Kaiteriteri in the northern part of a southern island in New Zealand. Confusing I know, but the whole area is absolutely gorgeous – and a wonderful place to spend a couple of nights on our Honeymoon.

I was feeling rather relaxed and happy with all the elation of being on a Honeymoon. If you know me, you know I love flowers. I couldn’t help myself but take some shots of the spring flowers throughout our three week stay touring the south island of New Zealand.

My Thoughts

These particular flowers were grown by our lovely hosts and friends Dave Foster and his beautiful wife Virginia. I love how this image makes my heart sing. The colour, the subject and just the pure bliss of looking at daffodils always puts me into a good mood.

Every time I look at this shot, it makes me smile while basking in my memories. I hope it can bring you lots of happiness and good feelings as well.
