At Cherish Artz, one of the greatest joys of being a Mackay Photographer is capturing the unique love stories of families. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing the upbeat and fun-loving Blackman family during a relaxed afternoon at the stunning Mackay Botanic Gardens near the Islander Hut area.
With its greenery and charming little nooks, the gardens provided the perfect backdrop for a family photography session that celebrated love, laughter, and connection. The Blackman family’s documentary-style photoshoot allowed us to create images that were more than just posed snapshots. Instead, we captured the essence of who they are as a family—filled with love, fun, and a little bit of craziness!
Capturing a Growing Family
It was particularly heartwarming to reconnect with Brooklynn, whom I had photographed years ago as a toddler with balloons and rabbits. Now at 11, Brooklynn is a big sister to two delightful younger siblings—April, age 5, and Leo, age 2. Watching this family grow and evolve has been such a privilege.
Adding even more warmth to the photoshoot was Judy, the proud grandmother, who joined in for a few shots, along with Sunny, the family’s lovable dachshund. Together, they made for a beautiful showcase of the unbreakable bond of family love.

Sam and Brendan wanted their family photos to reflect their love and their playful spirit, so we focused on capturing candid moments and genuine connections. From bursts of laughter to quiet, tender interactions, the photos tell the story of their family at this special moment in time.
